The information below refers to archives, in the sense of sets of data which are static and seldom needed and which you prefer to store away in order to free up disk space on your own systems.

Avoid filling up your disk quota by saving it to tape storage, you just have to connect with ‘ssh’ to the machine ‘archive.rzg.mpg.de‘ using your MPCDF user accounts. Apart from ‘ssh‘, you can also use ‘scp‘, ‘sftp‘ and ‘rsync‘ over ‘ssh’.

The user’s HOME directory is ‘/ghi/r/<initial>/<username>‘, that’s meant for the user’s own data. You can create whatever directory structure you need below that.
